William Dean “Bill” Phegley Sr., 88, of rural Sweet Springs, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline, Mo.

Born July 6, 1934, in Cross Timbers, Mo., he was the son of the late Raymond Phegley and Ione Tipton Phegley. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956. On May 4, 1957, he married Nancy L. Harris, who preceded him in death on June 9, 2012. He was a lifelong farmer, a member of the Marshall Saddle Club, and loved to ride horses and go on trail rides.

Survivors include four children, Tracy Phegley of Sweet Springs, Dean Phegley (Diane), Terry Phegley (Angela) and David Phegley (Samantha) all of Marshall, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Wade (Ed) of Evans, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
