Owls suffer first loss on soccer pitch

In another close battle on the soccer pitch with the Hannibal Pirates, the Marshall Owls came up just short.After the two teams batted to a scoreless draw through the first half and 14 minutes of the second half, the Pirates netted the game’s only goal off a free kick in a 1-0 decision on the Pirates’ home turf last Saturday.A foul was called on the Owls about 25 yards from the MHS goal on the left side with just over 26 minutes remaining.Pirate senior Kevin Westhoff curled his shot toward the goal over the top of all the MHS defenders and HHS attackers.
