Susan Elizabeth Reid unexpectantly passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Indianapolis, IN. Susan was born in Marshall, MO, on June 17, 1951, the daughter of James A. and Esther (Pat) Ruth Reid.

She graduated from Marshall High School in 1969 and went on to attend Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO, from which she graduated in 1973. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, AL.

Susan had a varied legal career first working for the Missouri Bar Association, clerking for a federal judge, and finally moving into the arena of real estate law with various entities (Home Federal Bank; Fannie Mae; McCalla, Raymer, Pierce and Liebert).

Attending law school in the South endeared her to southern ways and life in Atlanta, GA, where she made her home for many years. Her favorite vacation site was Charleston, SC, where she vacationed with friends annually. She also enjoyed a visit to Las Vegas taking in the shows and perhaps spending a bit of time at the slot machine.

One of the joys of Susan’s life was spending time and doting on her three nieces, Sarah Murray (Sean), Anne Curchin (Alex), and Emily Stanley (Logan). Her great-nieces (Emma Murray, Reid Stanley, Louisa Curchin, and Marianne Stanley) and great-nephews (Evan Murray and Alex Curchin) were also recipients of her love and generosity.

Susan later met and married Anne M. Roberts and moved to Indianapolis. She was warmly embraced by Anne’s family. Anne survives at their home in Carmel, IN.

Susan is also survived by her brother, Michael Reid (Sally) of Jefferson City, MO, her nieces and their spouses, her great-nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Terry Reid of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by six cousins. Susan will be greatly missed by her many friends.

A Celebration of Life Reception for Susan Reid will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Jefferson City Country Club, Jefferson City, MO, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
