Sandra “Sandy” Steding, 80, of Ozark, Mo., formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Springfield.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Tiffany Thornton and Zach Crews officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Slater FFA in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Feb. 16, 1943, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late William Gemmill and Mildred Marks Gemmill. Sandy lived in Marshall most of her life where she provided in-home childcare for numerous years. On April 10, 1960, she married James W. “Jim” Steding, who survives of the home. Sandy and Jim spent the last 16 years in Ozark where they were near family.
In addition to her husband, Jim; she is survived by one daughter, Terry Brown (Mike) of Springfield, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Steding of Nixa, Mo.; two grandsons, Kohl Robert Steding and Kyler Wayne Steding (Janelle); five great-grandchildren, Jaselynn, Sydney, Laira, Reese and Keaton; a brother-in-law, Ed Steding of Marshall, Mo.; nieces, Kelly Davis (Clay) and Amber Gemmill; nephews, Larry Steding, Richard Steding (Vickie), Bruce Steding (Janice), and Rusty Gemmill; her longtime close family friends, the Paul and Linda Crews family, Ron and Judy Garrison, and Beth and Robby Hultz; as well as other extended family and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Gemmill; one son, Kirk Steding; and a sister-in-law, Jean Steding.
