Robert J. ‘Bob’ Kolks

December 13, 1943 — February 12, 2023 Robert J. ‘Bob’ Kolks, 79, of Slater, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St.

Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, with the Rev.

Joshua Duncan officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. Visitation was Friday from 10 until 11 a.m., with Prayers of the Rosary at 9:45 A.M. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #78 or the V.F.W. Post #4367 in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born Dec. 13, 1943, in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Francis ‘Frank’ Kolks and Dixie Webb Kolks. On Oct. 12, 1969, in Slater, he married Josephine Suarez, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving is a son, Ron Sanders of Lenexa, Kan.; a granddaughter, Addisyn Sanders; and a sister, Shirley Campbell of Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank W. Kolks; and two sisters.

Mr. Kolks was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow and was a 1961 graduate of Glasgow High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He retired after 35 years of service as a Superintendent with the U.S. Corps of Engineers Labor Force. Following his retirement, he worked 12 years with MFA in Glasgow.
