Nellie A. Grigsby, 97, of Warrensburg, formerly of Slater, died Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center with her family at her side.
Anatomical donation has been made to the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home. Weiker Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of the arrangements.
Born July 1, 1925, in rural Slater, she was the daughter of the late Herb H. and Pearl Officer Herman. On Jan. 25, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., she married John E. “Johnny” Grigsby, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1967.
She is survived by two sons, Charles E. “Butch” Grigsby of St. Mary’s, Georgia, and Gary L. Grigsby and his wife, Anita, of Warrensburg; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Dan Lunsford; a daughter-in-law, Pat Grigsby; a grandson, John E. Grigsby; a great-grandson, Geoffrey West; three brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Grigsby was a member of the Slater and Warrensburg Christian Churches. She attended Slater Schools and graduated from Julian’s Beauty School in Kansas City. She was a licensed beautician for over 65 years, was a member of the National Hairdressers Association over 55 years, and was a member of the Slater American Legion Auxiliary for over 65 years.
