Michael S. Williams, 49, of Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Marshall, died Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Slater, with the Rev. Wellington J. Gorham Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Dec. 13, 1972, in Marshall, he was the son of James and Sandra Conway Williams, who survive of Marshall. On July 9, 2005, in Marshall, he married Bobbi Kistler, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are three sons, James Williams of Marshall, Wyatt Thorpe of Gladstone, and Jordan Robinson of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Grace Williams of Lawrence; a grandson, Cartier Thorpe; and a brother, J.L. Williams of Marshall.
Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army veteran, serving 22 years of active duty, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He later worked for Schilli Trucking, and currently was employed by Keim Transport in Lawrence, Kan. He was a 1991 graduate of Marshall High School.
