Inside what will be the Saline County Historical Society museum – the former Gambles building on the Marshall square – SCHS President Jack Harvey accepts a $1,000 donation from Judy Frerking (left) and Shery Gochenour (right). Frerking and Gochenour are members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marshall chapter. This year, as chapter members determined their best course would be to disband or merge with another chapter, they are closing their files and contributing their funds to local organizations. “We would like the money to stay local, with the community,” Frerking noted. She and Gochenour enjoyed meeting with Harvey and learning more about the progress the historical society is making with the renovation of the building.Sarah Gray/Democrat-News
