Man barricades himself inside after deputies respond to call of shots fired

Deputies responded to a call regarding shots being fired at a residence outside of Blackburn late Wednesday, March 26, which resulted in a man barricading himself inside for nearly six hours.

According to a press release issued by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday, the department received a call of shots fired at a residence on state Highway 127. When deputies arrived, they attempted to make contact with subjects who were inside.

“Deputies were able to make verbal contact with a male subject in the residence. The subject refused to follow commands from the deputies and barricaded himself in the residence,” the press release stated.

Sheriff’s Office negotiators attempted to talk the man outside, which continued for several hours. Personnel with the Missouri State Highway Patrol C.E.R.T. introduced chemical agents into the residence, and the subject exited. He was taken into custody shortly before 4 a.m., and formal charges were presented to the Saline County Prosecutor.

The sheriff’s department was assisted by MSHP, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, and Sweet Spring Ambulance.
