Linda Slade Bennett

August 14, 1952 – April 16, 2023

Linda Slade Bennett, 70, of Waverly, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Raytown, Mo., and private family inurnment will be in Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Higginsville. Instead of sending flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Midwest Animal ResQ, Heartstrings Dog Rescue or your local animal shelter. Born Aug. 14, 1952, in Independence, she was the daughter of the late Woodroe Frank Slade and Audrey Mae Jackson Slade. Linda lived in Waverly the last 10 years but spent most of her life in Independence.  She was a 1970 graduate of Truman High School, and then earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Linda’s career was spent as a teacher at Hickman Mills High School for 23 years. On Feb. 14, 2001, she married Glenn Bennett, who preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2012.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhiannon Talley (David) of Raytown; one brother, Jack Slade of Lamar; as well as other extended family.
