August 19, 1952 — October 18, 2022 Linda Lou Smith McWhirter, 70, of Marshall, Mo., formerly of Miami, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at Legendary Nursing and Rehab in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Friends of Miami or Miami R-I School. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Aug. 19, 1952, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Billy Kimbrew Smith and Mary Lou Cook Smith. Linda lived in Saline County most of her life and was a 1970 graduate of Slater High School. Her career was spent as a radiology technician at various hospitals throughout Missouri. Linda was previously married to Rick Schaefer, and they had three sons together. She was a member of Miami Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Spencer Schaefer (Monica) of Kansas City, Nick Schaefer (Torie) of Marshall and Luke Schaefer (Leigh Anne) of Blue Springs; four grandchildren, Brock, Ethan, Anasten and Gracelynn; three siblings, Larry Smith of Miami, Sue Miller of Miami and David Smith (Suzanne) of Waverly; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
