Kevin McMellen, 65, of Slater, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, in Lowden, Iowa.

Per his request, no services will be held.

Born in Artesia, Calif., he was the son of the late Walter O. and Peggy M. McMellen. He was married to Sheryl McMellen, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Mark McMellen of Denver, Colo.; Damien McMellen, of Lowden, Iowa; and a daughter, Jamie Henkel of Lowden, Iowa; one sister, Kathleen McMellen of Slater, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jason McMellen; and by five brothers, Jon McMellen, Paul McMellen, David McMellen, Richard McMellen and Anthony McMellen.

Mr. McMellen had worked as a roofer in California and Missouri before retiring.
