Born July 27, 1944, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Koch and Mary Rose Perkins Koch. She was raised in Marshall and a 1962 graduate of Mercy Academy. On Sept. 7, 1963, in Marshall, she married John P. Scott, who survives of the home.
Early in their marriage, they moved to Cincinnati where John began his career with GE and Kathy continued to pursue her work in bookkeeping. Involvement in school and sports activities with the boys, annual vacations to visit family and traveling the United States with the family were among Kathy’s greatest joys. Retirement brought Kathy and John to Arizona in 2003. These years gave Kathy the opportunity to explore and enjoy her artistic talents. She learned to play the piano, but found her real passion when she took up painting in the Community Art Club. She was awarded Artist of the Month and her home studio, full of her artwork, became a testament to her creative capabilities. She also enjoyed her many travels in retirement with Rome as her favorite destination.
Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Ron Scott (Julie) of Glendale, Ariz., and Doug Scott (Shelley) of Commerce Township, Mich.; four grandchildren, Amanda Whitman (Lance), Amelia Scott, Justin Scott and Shannon Scott; one great-grandson, Declan Whitman; five siblings, Betty Gazverde of Warrensburg, Mo., Larry Koch (Shar) of Ovid, Mich., Glenn Koch (Dian) of Seminole, Okla., Judy Koch of Arlington, Texas, and Patty Smith (Leroy) of Lebanon, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by a granddaughter in infancy, Sarah Joan Scott; and two sisters, Norma Gorrell and Darlene Cochran.
Kathy will be remembered as a God-Loving and faithful Christian. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, Ariz. All who knew her admired her caring, cheerful and devoted spirit as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
