Karen K. “Bird” Peterson, 76, of Marshall, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall.

At Bird’s request, no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Saline Animal League or American Cancer Society in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Friends may stop by the funeral home and sign the register book or sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born June 17, 1947, in St. Charles County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Milton Schwendemann and Shirley Kunderer Schwendemann.  She was a graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Southwest Missouri State in the nursing program. While living in Springfield she worked at St. John’s Hospital and Cox Medical Center. In 1967, she married Robert W. “Pete” Peterson, who survives of the home. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved to cook and travel.

In addition to her husband, “Pete,” Bird is survived by two children, Robert A. “Robbie” Peterson of Marshall and Dana Fang of Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Camille Fang and Vivienne Fang; one brother, Ronald Schwendemann (Teresa) of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
