JL Pulliam Sr.

December 20, 1930 – December 22, 2022

JL Pulliam Sr., 92, of rural Marshall, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Dec. 20, 1930, in rural Saline County, he was the son of the late LeRoy Pulliam and Blanche Hicks Pulliam. On Jan. 22, 1950, he married Frances Ann Cumpton, who preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2009. He lived in Saline County his entire life where he owned and operated JL Painting and Decorating. JL was an avid dancer and especially enjoyed square dancing. He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four children, JL Pulliam Jr. (Kathy) of Saline City, Sharon Fisher (Dale) of Shelbina, Rose Mills (Rick) of Marshall and Marilyn Garriott (Kenny) of Marshall; five grandchildren, Tina Miles, Lora Jane Mills, Desiree Griffitt, Kaylie Rose Crewse and Jacob Fisher; nine great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane Cranmore of Forsyth; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. 

JL was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one grandson, Jason Pulliam; a great-great-grandson, Leith Alaric Bode; one sister, Virginia Whitney; and two brothers, David and Robert Pulliam.
