February 4, 1956 — January 2, 2023 James Michael “Mike” Cupp, 66, of Marshall, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia.

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with Pastor William Voelker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Center in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Feb. 4, 1956, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Vester L. Cupp and Hilda Fern Skouby Cupp. Mike lived in Saline County most of his life, was a 1974 graduate of Marshall High School and attended Central Missouri State University for three years. He served in the United States Army from 1980 until he was honorably discharged in 1984. His career was spent in law enforcement and had most recently worked for the Sweet Springs Police Department before his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Smith (David) of Otterville; two grandsons, David Smith Jr. and Joshua Smith; as well as an aunt and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a sister, Belinda Cupp.
