Howard H. Scott Sr., 84, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 11, 2022.

The visitation will be Dec. 17, at 10 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Baxter, Iowa, at 2 p.m.

Howard is survived by his wife, Mary Scott (Ward); his children, Elizabeth Keith, Bert Scott (Renee), Bev Lehs (Kent), Becky Ziesman (Brad). Howard has 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack Scott (Judy); and four sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, three sisters, seven brothers, and one brother-in-law.

Howard was born in Osceola, Mo., to Willie Scott and Martha Scott (Anglin) on Feb. 26, 1938. He married Mary L Ward of Kansas City, Mo., on Feb. 7, 1959.

Howard was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul, Knight of Columbus, Des Moines Bowling Association, Elks Lodge 98, and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed family, friends, golfing, bowling, hunting, auto racing, Des Moines Senior Singers, but mostly the Kansas Chiefs and Iowa State University basketball and football.
