Gregory L. “Greg” Hays, 70, of Slater, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Slater. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Fish Creek Cemetery Association in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born Oct. 4, 1952, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Guy F. “Bucky” Hays Jr., and Betty G. Thompson Hays, who survives of Slater. On March 12, 1991, in Slater, he married Debbie Pycke, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2018.

He is survived by two daughters, Deanna Giger and Alisha McGary, both of Slater; a grandson, Gabriel White; a brother, Rick Hays and his wife, Connie, of Slater; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Hays.

Mr. Hays was a member of the First Baptist Church in Slater. He was a 1970 graduate of Slater High School and attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia. He worked in the Shipping Department at BHA, GE, and Parker Hannifin for 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing golf, and was President of the Fish Creek Cemetery Association.
