February 3, 1949 – April 11, 2023

George R Gunn, age 74, of Millbrook, Ala., passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Windsor, Mo., but traveled the world through his long military career, proudly serving our country in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emory Cagle Gunn and Beatrice Paxton Gunn; brother, Derryl Keith Gunn; and son, Jamie Marvin Carmack.

George is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rebecca Gantt Gunn; sons, James Michael Carmack, Jason Matthew Carmack (Ashley); grandchildren, Chloe Miranda Davis, Brenden Carmack, Grace Carmack, Nicholas Carmack, Alison York Smith, Alexander Carmack, Hanna Carmack, Hailey Carmack, Emily Carmack; and a great-grandchild, Cameron Smith.

A family and friends visitation for George was held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Prattville Ridouts Chapel. A celebration of life chapel service occurred Wednesday, April 19, 2023. A graveside committal service occurred Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Ala.
