American flags encircle the Little Sister of Liberty Statue at the entrance of Indian Foothills Park Monday morning, May 27. The flags aren’t limited to the north entrance, as park staff have laboriously installed hundreds of flags along the park’s main road. Monday, the flags were displayed in observation of Memorial Day. The Marshall Parks and Recreation Department currently has 600 American flags and continues to grow the collection. Flags are displayed for multiple holidays and observances throughout the year. In addition to Indian Foothills Park, flags were displayed at various locations throughout Marshall as part of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce’s “Partners in Patriotism” program.Sarah Gray/Democrat-News
