Eugene C. “Gene” Land, 73, of Marshall, Mo., died Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall. 

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. No visitation will be held. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice, and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Aug. 18, 1949, in Dent County, Mo., he was the son of the late Virgil A. Land Sr. and Lola Mae Brookshire Land. Gene lived in Marshall most of his life and worked for the City of Marshall Street Department for over 30 years. On April 16, 1971, he married Karen Gale “Kate” Drake, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2022.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Land of Marshall; a stepson, Donald Triebsch of Marshall; five grandchildren, Jackie Stockman, Robert Triebsch, Lindsey Triebsch, Michael Triebsch and Kaitlin Land; three great-grandchildren, Andalyn Finley, Cali Stockman and Jaxon Stockman; five siblings, Glen Land of Miami, Connie Stout of Michigan City, Ind., Helen Rader of Marshall, Bobby Land of rural Carrollton and Eldon Land of rural Carrollton; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Lee Wright, Faye White, Barbara Phillips and Margaret Land; and two brothers, Charles Land and Virgil A. Land Jr.
