August 10, 1941 – January 13, 2023

Dennis E. Martz, 81, of North Aurora, Ill., passed away on Jan. 13, 2023. Dennis was born on Aug. 10, 1941, in Horton, Kan.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Martz; his father, Samuel Martz; his brother, Dale Martz; and his wife, Mary Martz.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Ann Brejcha of North Aurora, Ill.; his son, Michael Lee Martz of Dubuque, Iowa; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ronald W. Martz of Acworth, Ga., Judith K. Deckard of Hugo, Okla., Lucinda J. Bradley of Hermitage, Mo., Charles T. Martz of Bella Vista, Ark., and Susan M. Davis of Marshall, Mo. Dennis also had numerous nieces and nephews who thought the world of him.

Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired Illinois State Highway Patrol officer. Dennis was a member of the Living Hope Church and North Aurora Lions Club. Dennis truly made a difference in his community through his commitment to serving others. Dennis was deeply loved by his family and will be missed. There will be a memorial service Feb. 25 at the Mt. Leonard Baptist Church at 1 p.m.
