Born Dec. 27, 1942, in rural Marshall, he was the son of the late William L. “Bill” Raines and Linnie Harmon Raines. Dave lived in Saline County his entire life and was a 1960 graduate of Marshall High School. Immediately after graduation, he began a four-year term of service in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of American Legion Post 558 in Malta Bend. On Aug. 25, 1967, he married Leonda Lee Gann, who preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2019. Dave owned and operated various businesses through the years and then opened Dave Raines Auto Sales in 1979 where he sold cars and was a mechanic until just a few months ago. He was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church where he was active in just about every part of the church, as well as serving as a deacon. Dave was a faithful man of God, and that led him to becoming a member of The Gideons International to help provide Bibles, and the word of God, to anyone who desired.
Survivors include one son, Joby Jason Raines of Marshall; four siblings, Carolyn Raines Gerhard of Grand Junction, Colo., LeRoy Raines (Carol) of rural Gravois Mills, Mo., Jim Raines (Jeri) of Kearney, Mo., and Elaine Raines of Prairie Village, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Vicky Walling of Springfield; Dave and Leonda’s very close friends for many years, Joe and Marita Bray of Marshall; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
