March 26, 1927 – March 30, 2023 Dan Silverthorn, 96, of Marshall, Mo., died Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hos‐pital in Marshall.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednes‐day, April 5, 2023, at Sun‐set Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, with the Rev.
Keith Vessell officiating.

Born March 26, 1927, in Skiatook, Okla., he was the son of the late Guy A. Silverthorn and Lillian Pilk‐ington Silverthorn. He was a U.S. Army/Air Corps and U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, where he met Jeanne Reitz. On Aug. 8, 1948, he married Jeanne and they were blessed with 73 years of marriage together. He had lived in Saline County since 1948, first living in Slater, then Marshall. He owned and operated Silver‐thorn Furniture, working until the age of 89. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lion’s Club, Slater American Legion Post No. 78, later trans‐ferring to American Legion Post 191 being a 74‐year member and a member of V.F.W. Post 2646.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Silverthorn of Marshall; one son, Mark Silverthorn of Branson; two grandchildren, Evelena Ruether and Robert Ruether (Pavi); two great‐grandchildren, Olivia and Luke Ruether; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dan was pre‐ceded in death by one son, Alan Silverthorn; and two sisters, Eleanor Johnson and Florence Wilson.
