Being able to pull out close games has been a staple of this basketball season for Joey Gochenour’s Slater Wildcats.
With a 51-32 win at home on Feb. 14, the Santa Fe Lady Chiefs locked down at least a second-place finish in the I-70 Conference basketball race.

The Marshall Lady Owls hadn’t beaten Moberly for more than five years. The losing streak reached 10 games when Marshall lost their matchup 61-59 at Moberly Dec. 20.

It was good news, bad news week for the Marshall Owls on Kevin Hart Court at Marshall High School.
The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader against Grand View (Iowa), Saturday afternoon. The women’s team fell, 66-60. The men’s team forced overtime, but lost, 82-75.

The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Benedictine (Kan.) for Courtwarming Thursday evening inside the Burns Athletic Complex in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader. The women’s team came back from a halftime deficit to pull away for a 62-54 win. The men’s team fell by a final score of 87-82.

Both dual matches during their final triangular were decided by three points or less, and the Marshall Owls went 1-1 in Jim Hargrave Gymnasium at MHS Feb. 13.
