The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams welcomed in Culver-Stockton (Mo.) inside the Burns Athletic Complex for a Senior Day Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader, Saturday afternoon. The Viking women’s team finished out an 85-78 win, while the men’s team earned an 85-75 win to close the regular season.

A Missouri Valley College men’s basketball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his play during the past week.

The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams traveled to Parkville, Mo., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader against Park (Mo.), last Wednesday. The women’s team built up an early lead, and pulled away for an 83-57 win. The men’s team suffered an 85-67 defeat.

When the two teams first met on Jan. 14, the home-standing Slater Wildcats claimed a 70-67 victory.

With 17 schools competing, including several private institutions, the Marshall Lady Owl swim team finished up its season at the Independent League Championships at Belton High School earlier this month.
Failure to put the game away from the free-throw line proved costly, and the fourth-seeded Missouri Valley College Lady Viking basketball team suffered a punch-in-the-gut kind of loss — 74-73 in overtime — to the No. 5-seeded Mount Mercy Mustangs in the first round of the Heart of America Athletic Conference post-season tournament at the Burns Athletic Complex in Marshall Tuesday night.

Each Marshall basketball team held a lead in the fourth quarter at Warrensburg last Friday. But in the end, the MHS teams dropped close decisions.
