Two innings after Sean Lock’s fourth-seeded Sweet Springs Greyhounds had rallied for three runs to tie No. 1-seeded Midway, the Vikings scored a run in the bottom of the eighth, and like a kick in the gut, the ‘Hounds’ season was over Tuesday, May 20.

Santa Fe failed to capitalize on the momentum it had built from its first win of the season — 12-0 on May 13 — as the Chiefs lost their Class 2, District 14 opener 15-0 to I-70 Conference rival Concordia on May 15.
