Marshall split the six tennis matches played at Smith-Cotton but won the dual match 6-3 due to the Lady Tigers only having four players Friday in Sedalia. Playing Pro-8, no-ad matches, Marshall juniors Alizah Russell and Bailey Kueker won their singles matches 8-0 at Nos. 3 and 4. Russell and Kueker also teamed up to win their doubles match 8-0.
Playing one of the best volleyball programs in the area on opening night, the Marshall Lady Owls had a few bright moments, but the Sacred Heart Lady Gremlins swept the threeset non-conference match 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 Monday in the MHS gymnasium.

It was a winning debut in 8-man football for the Sweet Springs Greyhounds. The ‘Hounds scored first, then fell behind 14-8 before scoring 42 of the game’s final 50 points in a 50-22 win over Hardin-Central/Norborne at home on Friday.
by Hobby King Sports Editor It was positive start to the season for the Marshall Lady Owls’ softball team as it pounded out a 17-1 win over Pilot Grove in the first round of the Marshall Tournament Saturday. However, Ben Locke’s Lady Owls lost their semifinal game 9-1 to Iberia and then suffered a 13-2 setback to Versailles for third place.
