Marshall Lady Owls’ sophomore Avery Evans and junior Holly Huston dropped both of their doubles matches played at the Class 1 State Tennis Tournament at Cooper Sports Complex in Springfield Friday. Evans and Huston, who entered the 16-team event with a 5-2 record on the season, fell to Notre Dame de Sion junior Lauren Murphy and sophomore Elizabeth Vance 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 8-10 (tie-breaker).

An already small squad in numbers was even smaller Saturday, as the Marshall Owls’ boys swimmers competed at the Tiger Invitational in Sedalia Saturday. The Owls were missing three swimmers due to band day and the conference cross country meet.
