Two Marshall Owl runners earned medals at the Richmond Invitational Wednesday. Sophomore Matthew Pomerenke and freshman Saxon Post finished 24th and 25th, respectively, in a race that had 81 participants.
Santa Fe’s football schedule has gotten tougher as the season has progressed, thus the Chiefs currently are mired in a four-game losing streak. Despite the 78-54 loss to Braymer/Breckenridge in week eight, head coach Danny Capps says the Chiefs were solid offensively.
Two Marshall High School standouts have been selected as “Athletes of the Month,” with awards sponsored by Big Iron Realty. Junior offensive guard and defensive middle linebacker Nick Arnold earned the award on the boys side.
Hannibal is a top-10 ranked team in Class 4, and the Pirates proved why in a 59-14 North Central Missouri Conference win over the Marshall Owls on Cecil Naylor Field Friday. It was the 17th straight win for the Pirates in the series.

The Santa Fe Chiefs dropped their fourth game in a row but not without a fight versus Braymer/Breckenridge. The Chiefs rallied from a 22-8 deficit at the end of the first quarter to lead 3422 at halftime.
At one point, the Slater Wildcats led visiting Wellington 20-14 when senior Jayce Case scored his second rushing touchdown of the game in the third quarter. But the Tigers rallied and scored the final 27 points in a 41-20 victory at Slater Friday.
