Last March, the Wellington Lady Tigers won a Class 2 state title on the hardwoods. But this year’s Lady Tigers were no match for the Marshall Lady Owls of new head coach Diane Schlesselman.
Sophomore Brandon Terrill started the game red hotdraining three three-pointers and scoring 12 first-quarter points, and the Slater Wildcats romped past visiting Prairie Home/Bunceton 5929 Friday. Terrill wound up with 21 points, including four threes.
In their previous three trips to the State Final Four, the Marshall Owls were winless, coming away with the fourthplace trophy each time. With hard work, the Owls overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Excelsior Springs Tigers 3-1 on a cold Friday night at the World Wide Technology Soccer Complex in Fenton.
