The Marshall basketball teams will be playing for seventh place in their respective tournaments this week. After dropping a 75-21 decision to top-seeded Grain Valley Tuesday, Lane Titus’ Marshall boys made a strong comeback bid to get to the consolation final but ultimately lost 63-58 in the consolation semifinal round of the 98th Pleasant Hill Tournament Wednesday.
It was a tough night Tuesday for the Slater basketball teams as they lost CAC games at home to Pilot Grove. The Lady Tigers, who have only lost once this season, won the opener 67-42.
Marshall’s girls wrestling team jumped out to a lead with two pins and never trailed, en route to a 42-24 dual match win over Warrensburg at MHS Tuesday. The Lady Owls - who received forfeits due to Warrensburg not having a participant in four weight classes - won three matches via fall.

Sweeps were recorded this week in the games involving the Sweet Springs basketball teams. The Hounds swept games from Oak Grove Monday and Norborne Wednesday.
In front of a large throng of fans, the Marshall Lady Owls grapplers accumulated 71 points to finish fourth in the Marshall Invitational at Marshall High School Saturday. The Lady Owls were led by seniorMilandi Linares and sophomore Sherlyn Solano with second-place finishes in the 100- and 190pound weight classes.
Marshall juniorBrendan Marquess placed second in the 157-pound weight class, leading the Owls to a seventhplace finish in the team standings at the 49th Annual Marshall Invitational Tournament Saturday. Marquess went 3-1, including one win by fall.
Ever since being beaten by Lone Jack 44-32 in the championship game of the I70 Conference Tournament on Dec. 10, the Santa Fe Lady Chiefs have not lost.
Coming up with two crucial stops and two decisive free throws, the Sweet Springs Greyhounds finished off their trip to the New Franklin Tournament with a down-to-the-wire 49-47 win over Bunceton/Prairie Home in the seventh-place game Saturday.
