In a position to begin a season 2-0 for the first time since 2019, the Missouri Valley College football team could not close out the Clarke Pride, gave up a touchdown with less that a half-minute to go in regulation and lost 31-30 in Dubuque, Iowa, Saturday.
It was a split of four matches for the Missouri Valley College women’s volleyball team at the Big Dogs Classic in Joliet, Ill., over the Labor Day holiday weekend. The Lady Vikings swept their matches Friday but lost their Saturday matchups.

It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but the Missouri Valley College football team overcame some mental mistakes, won the turnover battle and defeated visiting Peru State 16-6 in the season opener at Volney C. Ashford Stadium on Gregg-Mitchell Field in Marshall Saturday.
Prior to the beginning of the season, the Missouri Valley College football team has been dealt a blow. Heading into camp, it was thought that due to the COVID season allowing student-athletes another year of eligibility, Darrion Cole would return as the starting quarterback.
Senior defender Natalia Ruiz scored two goals, and junior midfielder Laura Quero and freshman Llara Llorente added one goal each, as the No. 21-ranked Missouri Valley College women’s soccer team blanked Harris-Stowe State in a non-conference contest on Gregg-Mitchell Field in Marshall Sunday. Junior midfielder Rina Kinami and sophomore forward Ashley Arribas each had one assist. Senior goalkeeper Marina Barneda made one save to earn the shutout in goal.
