Deadline for a Missouri Corn Scholarship approaching

JEFFERSON CITY — The deadline is approaching for Missouri agricul‐ture students interested in applying for a 2023 Missouri Corn Scholar‐ship. High school and college stu‐dents pursuing a career in agronomy or other agriculture‐related field must submit the necessary forms no later than Feb. 10 to be eligible for one of seven $1,000 scholarships sponsored by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and the Mis‐souri Corn Merchandising Council.

Saline County Early Days (1864-1882)

According to the best information, the name Grand Pass was given to this section of Saline County by the Indians and early travelers who first came through this territory. They called the pass of high bluff “Grand Pass,” which was between Salt Fork Creek on the south and the Missouri River on the north. This pass was from 100 to 500 yards wide and was also known as the Santa Fe Trail.

Missouri lawmakers debate on pregnant and postpartum women legislation

Missouri lawmakers are weighing legislation that seeks to provide ex‐panded MO HealthNet coverage for low‐income women. If passed, the cov‐erage would include full Medicaid benefits for the length of the pregnancy as well as for one year fol‐lowing the end of the pregnancy. Sen. Elaine Gannon, R‐De Soto, and Sen. Tracy McCreery, D‐Olivette, are sponsoring bills to expand coverage.

The Marshall Municipal Pool’s grand opening was scheduled for Sunday, May 28, [year]. Admission prices were 25-cents for adults and 10-cents for children, which could also be purchased as a package. Pictured is the main entrance pool house, which is still operated at Indian Foothills Park. The municipal pool is now known as the Marshall Aquatic Center.
