SPRINGFIELD (Aug. 1, 2022) — Missouri State University awarded 2,878 degrees to students in Spring 2022.
As small communities developed in Saline County, it became important to realize their development was vital to the history of Saline County. To stimulate and encourage interest in the history of the county, these small communities began to collect and preserve historical facts. This article will highlight the two of these communities and the important impact they had on Saline County history.

Dear Editor, As a subscriber, I must say that I’m scandalized that the paper would print the ad found on page 6 of the July 27, 2022, Marshall Democrat-News. It’s a gigantic slander on our County Commissioners paid for by unnamed individuals, less than one week before an election in which one of them is running.
Marshall Public Schools has employed new Superintendent Caleb Petet, effective July 1, 2022. Assistant Superintendent David Reinke, has also joined MPS. Under the guidance of the Marshall School Board, Petet and Reinke have been tasked with implementing a new district strategic plan. The board had several special meetings and brought in a consultant to help in the creation of this new plan. The board has adopted this “Governance Plan,” which will govern and lead the district in all facets of its operation in the year ahead, as directed by the board.
