SPRINGFIELD (June 15, 2022) — Each semester, students at Missouri State University who attain academic excellence are named to the Dean’s List. For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
Abrea Quinn Mizer, of Marshall, daughter of Paul and Brenda Mizer, was recently honored as a 2022 University of Missouri School of Medicine graduate, earning the Geriatric Medicine Award and being honored as a Geriatric Scholar and Outstanding Graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia entering Family Medicine.
The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen learned more about a bid for a skid steer bucket during a regular meeting Monday, June 13. City Clerk Michelle Fuehring stated there was only one bid. Public Works Superintendent Nate Lea stated it was from Legacy Iron in Grain Valley for either a 68-inch HD smooth bucket for $1,600 or a 74-inch HD smooth bucket for $1,650, which was currently in stock. Lea recommended the second one. Aldermen approved the purchase.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft is reminding Missourians to be on the lookout for elder financial abuse.
During the Saline County Commission meeting held on Thursday, June 9, Northern Commissioner Stephanie Gooden reported on a conference she attended. She said this was in regard to economic development, which was discussed in Manhattan, Kan.
The Marshall Municipal Band returns to the east lawn of the Saline County Courthouse Thursday evening for another free evening of music. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Karson Troth, of Marshall, Mo., was recently named to the La-Grange College Spring Semester Vice President of Academic Affairs’ List. To be eligible for this honor, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.6 while taking a minimum course load of 12 hours.
