The Family Life Center at First Baptist Church looked more like a manufacturing plant this week as hundreds of volunteers became book makers. First Baptist Church commissioned volunteers from area churches as they were given a mission of sending Bibles to the Philippines.

MPS orchestra fall concert announcement

The Bueker Middle School and Marshall High School orchestras will hold their annual Fall Concert on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Harold Lickey Auditorium at Bueker Middle School. This concert will feature the Seventh Grade Orchestra, Eighth Grade Orchestra, and MHS Orchestra. Selections to be performed have titles including the words “Zombie,” “Goblin,” “Dragon,” “Halloween,” “Phantom,” “Creatures,” “Gargoyles,” and “Wicked,” so come enjoy some spooky music to fit the season.

57th annual Fitzgibbon Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar returns

The 57th Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar to raise funds for Fitzgibbon Hospital will he held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, at the Martin Community Center. The event has changed in its makeup and its location through the years, but it is always a great time for a good cause! The vendor booths, silent auction and bake sale will begin at the Martin Community Center at 3 p.m., with the chili supper and children’s activities kicking off at 4 p.m. All other activities planned for the event will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

SCCC Future Business Leaders of America to host Food Challenge

The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America chapter is hosting a Food Challenge for all Career and Technical Student Organizations at the Saline County Career Center and would like to invite the community to take part in this first challenge. All collected items will be distributed locally by FBLA members to the Little Food Pantries throughout Marshall. Items sought include non-perishable foods such as canned goods, boxed foods and personal care items like toothpaste, body wash, deodorant or shampoo. Items that can be opened with a pull-tab or can openers are also suggested.

SCCC Future Business Leaders of America celebrate inaugural FBLA Day

The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America Chapter took part in a state-wide observance of FBLA Day on Wednesday, Oct. 19. This inaugural occurrence was signified by a Governor’s Proclamation by Gov. Michael Parson. FBLA Day recognizes the contributions of FBLA, the nation’s largest youth business organization, to student success. SCCC business students wore FBLA colors of blue and gold to celebrate. The chapter has already been hard at work for the 2022-2023 school year with 37 members.
