Hospice provides quality in last months of life

A common phrase is that there are two “sure things” in life: death and taxes. People spend their whole working lives paying taxes, but spend very little time thinking about and preparing for the eventuality that someday they will pass from this life. While many die of accidental death, and still more die with an undiagnosed illness, others learn that they have a terminal illness. For those people, there may come a point where medical treatment will no longer produce a cure and, instead, it will have a negative effect on the quality of life remaining. It is at this point in life that hospice care becomes the logical choice.

New grant brings conservation program to Missouri corn growers

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)-- Precision Conservation Management (PCM), in collaboration with the Illinois Corn Growers Association (IL Corn), Kentucky Corn Growers Association, and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC), has received new grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to bolster regenerative agriculture practices. This grant is part of the $14.7 million NFWF awarded nationwide to advance soil health and improve water quality on working lands. It provides the first opportunity for Missouri farmers to participate in PCM.

MDC reports final deer harvest for season at 276,262

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri’s 2024-2025 deer-hunting season ended Jan. 15 with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reporting a preliminary total deer harvest for the season of 276,262. Of the deer harvested, 129,252 were antlered bucks, 23,842 were button bucks, and 123,168 were does. Top harvest counties for the overall deer season were Franklin with 6,208, Jefferson with 4,900, and Macon with 4,495.
