The Marshall Writers’ Guild met Jan. 16 at the Marshall Public Library community room for the beginning of the guild’s 13th year. Present were President Sharon Dyer, Vice President Sean Rea, Secretary Mary Williams, Treasurer Carole Schaefer, Ed Richards, Mike Thomas, Lee Jasper, Carol Raynor. Guests were Tom Marshall (a relative of our deceased Tom Marshall), Shannon Williams, Mary Gilpin. Gilpin, representing the Mid-Day Optimist Club, came to solicit judges for the club’s essay contest. Three members volunteered to do the judging.

As January progresses, Slater Elementary students across all grade levels are engaged in varied educational activities. Principal Becky Drummond recently delivered her board report, which sheds light on the vibrant learning experiences taking place this month.
