Club Vice President Andrew Potter opened the meeting of the Optimist Club of Marshall on Saturday, March 8, at Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant. John Bargfrede led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Matt Pennock gave the invocation.

The annual Health Fair at Fitzgibbon Hospital will be held from 7 to 10 a.m., Friday, April 25, in the hospital’s atrium. This event provides easy access to numerous health screenings to help people “know their numbers” and is part of the hospital’s mission of “Improving the Health of our Community.”

MARSHALL, Mo. (March 7, 2025) – The Arbor Day Foundation named Marshall a 2024 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow, and maintain trees to benefit its community.

On Tuesday, March 4, Miami R-1 Middle School took four students -- Bennett Kueker (8th Grade), Charles Tyre (6th Grade), Carter Wilson (6th Grade), and Ulysses Taylor (7th Grade) -- to the ISEF/MJAS science fair competition in Fayette. Students had to write a scientific research paper, prepare a presentation, complete a display board, and carry out a scientific project that followed the scientific method.
The Marshall Writers’ Guild monthly meeting was held Feb. 20 in the Marshall Public Library Community Room. The meeting was called to order by President Sharon Dyer.
