Missouri S&T announces Honor List

ROLLA — Missouri University of Science and Technology announces the names of students who made the Honor List for the Spring 2023 semester. To be included on the Honor List, students must have carried a minimum of 12 hours and had grade point averages of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0.

Confederate Memorial Day to be recognized June 3 in Higginsville

The Confederate Memorial Friends Association, along with the Confederate State Historic Site in Higginsville, Mo., is sponsoring the annual Confederate Memorial Day event on Saturday, June 3. The Chapel will be open at 10 a.m. with music by Hank Roberts. The service will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the procession of the Color Guard into the cemetery. At the close of the program, flowers are placed by many of the veteren’s descendants on their ancestors’ graves. Group singing ends the afternoon. The public is invited to come out to beautiful Confederate Park and share in this special day to honor and remember Missouri’s Confederate veterans.

The Marshall Writers’ Guild met Thursday, May 18, in the Marshall Public Library. Present: Vice-President Sharon Eiker-Dyer, Holly Forsman, Sean Rea, President Ed Richards, Treasurer Carole Schaefer, Virginia Sprigg, Secretary Sidney Sullivan, and guest Stacy Ballenger. Six area students earn DESE recognized Career & Technical Education Certificate

The Saline County Career Center recognized six students recently by awarding them the Career and Technical Education certificate. In 2016, the Missouri General Assembly passed legislation requiring the State Board of Education and the CTE Advisory Council to establish the requirements for the CTE certificate. The certificate is earned in addition to the student’s graduating high school diploma. This is the third year that graduating students were eligible to earn the CTE certificate.
