Women encouraged to ask their doctor about breast cancer

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Fitzgibbon Community Cancer Center also celebrates its 16th anniversary. But for all the focus and education regarding research, detection and treatment options for breast cancer, there are still many women in our area who have yet to make their appointment to receive a 3D Mammogram, as a recommended by health experts. This critical breast cancer screening method is recommended to begin as early as age 35 for those with a family history and other risk factors.

University of Missouri Simulation Center provides advanced training for Fitzgibbon Hospital nurses

Nurses at Fitzgibbon Hospital recently participated in specialized training sessions focused on critical care scenarios, including septic shock code blues and gastrointestinal bleed emergencies, through a partnership with the University of Missouri’s Sheldon Clinical Simulation Center.
