JEFFERSON CITY — Holiday travel could be a bit more challenging this year due to a winter storm that will move across the state Wednesday night and Thursday and leave bitterly cold temperatures in its wake. The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all drivers to be aware of changing road conditions both where they are and where they are going.

The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen discussed a personnel issue during a special closed session on Thursday, Dec. 15.

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Conservation invites the public to celebrate the holidays and help Runge Nature Center make use of removed invasive red cedar trees by creating a cedar wreath to take home. This event will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Dec. 20 in Jefferson City.

The Optimist Club of Marshall met Saturday, Dec. 10, at Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant. Gary Pennock gave the invocation, and guest Valerie Summers led the Pledge of Allegiance. Carol Grote presented entries in the annual kids’ Christmas coloring contest, and the club members selected the winners.

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Conservation invites the public to start their morning with an MDC naturalist to learn the basics of winter bird identification while enjoying a hot cup of java Dec. 16 from 8-9:30 a.m. at Runge Nature Center.

MARSHALL (Nov. 28, 2022) — The MVC Education Division and Murrell Library participated in Jumpstart's Read for the Record, which is an early literacy campaign. This event brings millions of adults and children together to read the same book on the same day all around the United States. MVC worked with several Saline County school districts, Head Start, local childcare providers, and Marshall Public Schools and reached over 3,000 listeners.
