Bernice Austin, 93, of Marshall, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with the Rev. Wayne Doolin and William W. Harlow officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone, Mo. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Olive Hill, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Allen Bryant and Delia Linville Bryant. On Aug. 11, 1955, she married Earlis Edward Austin, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2001. Bernice worked as an accounting clerk for American Bakeries Company in Kansas City and retired from there after 34 years of service. Bernice returned to Marshall several years ago and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kerry Austin (Jacque) of Kansas City and Kirk Austin (Kathy) of Marshall; a stepdaughter, Brenda Poston of Ventura, Calif.; a stepson, Steven Austin; six grandchildren: Drew Austin, Cameron Austin, Quinn Austin, Melody Kresser, Megan Johnson and Carter Austin; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Kaye Webb of Smyrna, TN; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Bryant and Kay Bryant; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by seven brothers, Hardin, Calvin, Otis, Almon, Jim, Tommy and Dennis Bryant.
