The District Optimist Oratorical Contest was held the weekend of April 6-7 in Sedalia.Andrea Gooden, representing the Marshall Morning Optimist Club, placed first in the event.Michelle Lin, who was sponsored by the Mid-Day Optimist Club of Marshall, placed second in the contest.Both Marshall High School students now advance to the State Competition, to be held later in May.Lauren Riley and Piper Brunson, both of MHS, were also competing in the District Competition.
