A portion of state Highway 291 in Independence that was closed June 27 has been reopened.The abrupt closure came after a crack developed underneath the roadway, and was put in place as a precaution while crews evaluated the situation.According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the roadway was closed from Truman Road to U.S.
