State Fire Marshal cautions Missourians to put safety first as seasonal retailers prepare to sell fireworks across the state

JEFFERSON CITY – As Missourians begin plans and preparations for July 4th holiday celebrations, they should also keep in mind the danger posed by the misuse of fireworks. Fireworks sales at seasonal retailers are legal in Missouri between June 20 and July 10. Through June 16, the Division of Fire Safety had issued 1,127 permits to seasonal fireworks retailers.

MDC reminds public frogging season begins June 30

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Get outside and discover nature this summer during frogging season! The Missouri Department of Conservation reminds the public that frogging season begins June 30 at sunset and runs through Oct. 31. Anyone with a fishing permit or small game hunting permit may go frogging for bullfrogs and green frogs.

28 new troopers graduate from Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy

Colonel Michael A. Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that 28 troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The ceremony took place at 9 a.m. at the Patrol Academy gymnasium. The 123rd Recruit Class reported to the Academy on Jan. 2, 2025. The new troopers will report to duty in their assigned troops on July 7.

P. E.O. sisterhood promotes education for women

The Missouri State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood held its 131st annual convention June 6-8. More than 300 representatives of P.E.O. chapters across Missouri attended including delegates, Judy Teupel, President of the JS Chapter of Marshall and Brenda Jansen, President of Chapter LP, Marshall, who reside in Sweet Springs. Also attending from the area were Rebecca Early and Lori Godsey from Chapter GM of Marshall.
