Owls score 27 points in loss at Richmond

Despite the Marshall Owls’ offense looking the best it has this season, host Richmond took advantage of a few MHS mistakes and held off a late charge to win the non-conference matchup 49-27 last Friday. The Owls, who had been held to less than a handful of first downs versus Boonville in week two, ran the ball with authority for much of the game versus Richmond.Marshall totaled 263 yards on the ground and 343 yards of total offense versus the Spartans.“We had multiple opportunities, and unfortunately, we turned the ball over a few times in critical situations,” MHS head coach Ian Verts said.

Santa Fe falls to Aggies on road

The Hardin-Central/Norborne Aggies raced to a 54-0 lead and went on to claim an 80-20 victory over the Santa Fe Chiefs last Friday night. The Chiefs were trying to build off their 26-14 victory in week two over Northland Christian that ended an eight-game losing streak dating to a win over the Trailblazers in week two in 2023.But the Aggies had other intentions, and they scored touchdowns on every one of their first-half possessions and led 54-8 by halftime. The second half was played with the quick-clock rule in effect. The Aggies opened the scoring on a 46-yard quarterback sweep by sophomore Brody Fifer, and added a 41-yard run on a wingback counter by senior Kalel Bowman, a TD run on an option keeper by Fifer and a 35-yard pass from Fifer to sophomore Sam Barnett, and the lead was 32-0 at the end of the first quarter.A 30-yard run by Bowman, followed by a Fifer to Barnett pass and a 12-yard run by junior Zach Deitch and the lead 54-0 before the Chiefs scored on a 1-yard sneak by senior quarterback Bryce Hostetter.Hostetter scored on another 1-yard sneak in the third quarter, and the Chiefs also recorded a safety.

The Shepherd’s Heart

Now that the presidential debates are apparently over, and now that folks are getting serious about how they might vote in the upcoming presidential election, I keep seeing internet posts absolutely bashing one candidate or the other. For me, I am having a hard time choosing a candidate, especially if I had to choose based on character, common sense, and dignity.
