With the national election just a couple of weeks away, I thought it might be a good time to once again look at what we might focus on, as believers, after the election is over.
For a half, the Sana Fe Chiefs hung around.But the host Orrick Bearcats outscored the Chiefs 32-6 in the third quarter and pulled away for a 48-22 Central River League I-70 Division game last Friday night.The Bearcats scored on their opening possession and added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.The Chiefs and Orrick traded possessions the rest of the first half with no more scoring.Orrick increased its lead to 16-0 early in the third quarter, but the Chiefs bounced back to score on an 11-yard pass from senior Bryce Hostetter to junior Reese Elkins.
Just about everything went right of the Marshall Lady Owls’ softball team.

What a year it’s been for Marshall’s Teresa Fuentes-Romero.She has continued to improve her time on the cross-country courses in the area, and last Saturday at the North Central Missouri Conference meet in Mexico, the MHS sophomore chopped 14 seconds off her previous personal-best time and claimed 12th place to earn a medal.Fuentes-Romero completed the 5,000-meter run in 23 minutes, 7.01 seconds for 12th among the 35 runners.The girls’ race was won by Mexico’s Margaret Ramsey in 20:55.59.Lady Owl sophomore Sydney Diehm was 33rd in 30:59.73; senior Ingrid Aguilar-Garcia 34th in 33:01.29; and senior Rebecca Gonzalez-Montejo 35th in 34:58.85.On the boys’ side, senior Matthew Pomerenke wound up 20th in 19:01.46.

Mike Machholz is no longer athletic director at Missouri Valley College.Macchholz, a 1984 MVC graduate and member of the school’s athletic hall of fame, made the announcement through a letter to the coaches.According to a story that first appeared in MVC’s Delta, the campus newspaper, Machholz explained what happened in the letter.“Many rumors have been circulating and I want to end all speculations related to it,” he wrote.
