Arrow Rock is taking a step back in time this September with a unique, living history event that brings George Caleb Bingham’s famous Election Series paintings to life. The “1850 Arrow Rock Election,” set for Sept. 19-21, will immerse visitors in Missouri’s political past with reenactments, parades and interactive programs across town.

Following the July 22 groundbreaking for the Marshall Energy Center, Marshall Municipal Utilities officials met with representatives from Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA), contractor Lamp Rynerson, and the new engineering firm, PPS Services Group. PPS replaces Lutz, Daily and Brain as project engineers.
At the Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works meeting Tuesday, July 29, department heads shared updates on several key projects, including an ongoing well maintenance project and broadband installations. The board also approved a change in cost for stack testing on power generation units.

It encompasses faith, trust in God, and gratitude, uniting believers in prayer and always projecting eternal hope. Whatever intent the word “Amen” may mean, we trust in faith that things can happen, and often are, to be ready and accepting of them happening for us.
JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) urges Missourians to take precautions as heat and humidity are expected to rise to dangerous levels. In 2024, 23 Missouri residents, ranging in age from 9 months to 91 years, died due to heat-related illness. During excessive heat, DHSS urges Missourians to check on friends and neighbors, especially those who are elderly and chronically ill. To report a senior citizen or an adult with disabilities who is in need of assistance due to the heat, call the state’s toll-free abuse and neglect hotline at 1-800-392-0210, or make a report online.
Families and youth gathered in Marshall for the 2025 Saline County Fair held July 10-20. The County Fair provides youth with an opportunity to improve communication skills, teamwork abilities, and ultimately take pride in presenting their year-long projects. Highlights include a variety of livestock shows, 4-H and FFA project displays, and the Premium Sale held Friday evening. This year, more than $160,000 was donated to youth involved in the sale. Once again, 4-H awarded eight Best in Show awards for the top projects among the more than 650 entries presented for judging and 120 advancing to the Missouri State Fair.
